The Troy-Bilt 2-cycle 31cc non-clutch gas trimmer features convenient EZ-Start choke technology, which allows the user to simply flip the choke, prime the engine, and then give a slow, smooth, easy pull for a guaranteed start. The EZ-Start technology allows the trimmer's engine to engage with 55-percent less effort than most gas models. With its rugged 31 cc engine, the trimmer provides plenty of brawn to power through the most ragged, overgrown growth. The trimmer's professional-style straight-shaft, split-boom design gives easy access underneath low-growing shrubs. The trimmer cuts in a 17-inch radius and features heavy-duty, 0.080-inch dual lines with convenient bump-head line release. When it's time to replace the line, the featured SpeedSpool line replacement system is exceptionally easy to load and rewind, all without removing the spool or taking it apart. The entire trimmer feels exceptionally balanced and comfortable in the hand, and the ergonomic soft-grip D-shaped handle easily adjusts for both right and left-handed users.  Won't stay running - been poor from the start August 8, 2010

I purchased this as a complement to my new home back in 2006. It's been a poor weedeater ever since. As another reviewer said, it's very finicky about orientation: when you turn it a certain angle it quits because the engine can't get gas from the gas tank. The sad part is I bought it on the recommendation of a very popular consumer reviews magazine and website.
Poorly Built July 16, 2010

I've gone through 3 of these. I heard they were supposed to be good so I bought one in 2009. It broke the first day then I exchanged it and got another one. I didn't use the new one till this spring and it lasted a little longer but it also broke fairly quickly. Unfortunately I couldn't exchange this one but I bought another still thinking maybe I had just been unlucky because I had always heard such good things about Troy-Bilt. The 3rd one broke one its second use. I think what happened was the gears in the head got stripped in all 3 but I'm not positive. Either way I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I have had a Troy Bilt rototiller and been pleased with it, so I thought their weedeater would be a good purchase and I bought on today. What a big disssapointment. The bump trimer head is worthless and unreliable, and it is impossible to remove, and there are no universal heads that will fit it. Initially, the head was assembled incorrectly and would not feed line at all. When I turn the weedeagter sideways to edge my yard, it quits running because the engine can't get gasoline from the gas tank because of the poor design. My recommendation is don't buy a Troy Bilt weedeater. I'm going to take mine back.

A GOOD PRODUCT, EASY TO START, PLENTY OF POWER HOWEVER A BIT OUT OF BALANCE, SHAFT COULD BE ABOUT SIX INCHES LONGER AND A BETTER BUMP HEAD THAT SCREWS ON SO IT COULD BE REPLACED WHEN NEEDED.

This is a piece of Junk. This weed eater will cause you to pay for repairs. I have had 2 of them and my neighbor's second one broke also. Ask a small engine repair man about Troybilt and watch his reaction! The carb on the Troybilt is so temperamental and will gum up, stall or will not work at all, I have spent $60.00 on repairs, this weed eater is only used sparingly and my yard is not that big! I had a Ryobi for years and never had a problem, save your money, buy a Stihl!!!!!!
