Amazon.com Product Review
Electrolux's gasoline-powered, curved-shaft string trimmer features a 16-inch cutting path for taking out that weed patch quickly. Powered by a unit's 25 cc engine, this trimmer zips quickly through stubborn weeds, vines, and thistle. Electrolux's handy, Tap-'n'-Go line-advance lets out line smoothly when the head is quickly bumped on the ground--so you do the whole yard at once without having to kill the engine, re-string, and start up again every time the line gets sucked into that chain link fence. A rugged, plastic housing and lightweight aluminum shaft mean optimal handling and durability. And, a lightweight design ensures superb maneuverability for buzzing around landscape features, down long fence lines, and between flowers. More great features: Easy no-tool assembly gets you up and running quickly. The unit's quiet engine won't annoy the neighbors and is easy to start. A squeezable primer bulb facilitates startups on colder days. And, Electrolux's Quick-Snap spool replacement lets you change heads in less than ten seconds. Best of all, the purchase is covered by manufacturer 2-year warranty. Brian D. Olson

1 out of 5 stars Broke in half, never started and idled well. Typical Chinese junk   April 11, 2010

It has never started and idled well. Plug is clean, gas is good. Cheap plastic tang holding shaft onto motor broke on one side. NOT recommended. Spend for a more highly rated machine.

5 out of 5 stars was offered the light model instead and happy   May 7, 2009

The light model that I was offered maybe because I am in Ca. is a great piece of lawn and garden eqipment for occasional use. It has a small enging and I cut some weeds that normally a brush cutter would cut but this thing did it in two passes without making me tired. I really like the price and it beats buying this light model rather than spending a lot on a bigger one unless you need to cut much more often. This little one cut weeds that had half-inch shafts in them and if it got stuck it would kill the engine, better than the clutch sreaming until I got it turned off to unwind a piece of ivy wrapped around the shaft. I love the ease of starting poulan engines and although they are a bit underpowered have terrific value buy thier price and ease of use.

1 out of 5 stars Hard to start hard to keep running   March 13, 2009

I have been through 2 units in 1 year and both were horrible. Runs poorly and loses power easily. First one the rip cord jammed and snapped (returned for replacement). The second unit died inexplicably when metal shards came flying out of the housing. Nice work weed eater team!

2 out of 5 stars Not the worst, not great either.   September 15, 2008

I bought this trimmer in an "Emergency" why my old trimmer broke on the day of a party where I needed my yard trimmed. I don't normally buy things without researching, but this time I did. I'm not completely happy with my purchase, and I paid a lot more than it's selling here on amazon.

First off out of the box, it's not a bad looking thing, and it's lightweight. It's also a plus that it required little assembly (one small wingnut). It has a primer bulb to help it start, and is easy to pull over.

Now the problems. It wouldn't stay running out of the box, no matter what the setting on the choke was. I finally got it running after leaving the throttle wide open all the time. Also, the string is very difficult to load, and it uses a lot of it. In addition, all of the moving parts are plastic (choke, throttle), which means I know that they are going to break at a bad time.

I finally went online to ebay and bought a carb adjustement tool (spline shaped). After moving both screws 1.5 turns out, it runs OK now. I wasn't happy to spend an extra $15 on this thing, but it now makes it manageable.

Also, this thing doesn't have a clutch, which means the head is spinning whenever the engine is running. It makes things very difficult, and slightly dangerous. Next time I am spending my money on a better machine.

1 out of 5 stars Did Not Work Once   July 12, 2008

My wife purchased this model for me as a Father's Day gift. I carefully read the owner's manual and attempted to start the trimmer. It would not start. I tried again the next day and the next. In two weeks time, this piece of garbage would not start once. Customer service at Poulan was no help at all. I will not purchase any Poulan/Weedeater product again.
