| Customer Reviews: Strong but not perfect (nothing ever is...) July 13, 2010 Amazon Customer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this item from an Amazon listed seller for far less cheaper than what was actually listed on Amazon (go figure?). Noticed that Amazon doesn't list this seller anymore LOL. While this thing was as strong if not more so than my old Echo 210, it is a bit lighter, louder, and the vibration is a bit more. Start up is a breeze (only one or two pulls), but sometimes during the initial pull, it would stall before the engine warms up. The stock line that came with it is actually pretty strong. I've only had to use the bump trimmer head feature 1 or 2 times during every hour of use for additional line. I've only used this for about a month so far but love it! My old Echo lasted me a good 8 years, and I'm hoping this Husky will last me the same if not longer, considering the price (over 200 bucks).
PROS: Very strong (will cut through small plants and tree bark easily); considerably light; starts very easily; Bump-head feature for more line is very nice and easy.
CONS: Not very ergonomical. The handle on the shaft is a bit too far up; holding it is a bit awkward (but maybe that's just me). If you have longer arms than me (and I'm not that tall), then you might have an issue holding it for long periods. It's a bit smelly, but then it is gas! Vibration is a bit more than usual. Get ear protection; this beast is loud.
Overall, I would recommend buying this in a heartbeat. Do not downgrade purchase from the 223L model, as I've read that the lower end Husky's have similar parts made for crappy Poulan trimmers.
LOUD but oh so powerful November 10, 2009 M. A. Bagnall (New Jersey, USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Easy to assemble and simple to use.
Get some ear protectors as this thing is loud.
You will wonder why you ever used one of those Black and Decker or similar things when you get this: astonishing performance.
Awesome Trimmer July 17, 2009 D. Derry (Indianapolis, IN.) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I had previously purchased a Craftsman trimmer, (the one with the new head design that uses 12" long line). I was so disappointed in the Craftsman I took it back and bought the Husqvarna 223L. I absolutely LOVE This trimmer !!
Very powerful. I had not trimmed for a month and the grass was very tall and thick. It mowed through like it was butter. It has power to spare. In fact, I was gunning the throttle and noticed that the torque would actually twist/torque the shaft on both ends. It did not misform or misshape the shaft in any way, I was just surprised at all the torque it had. (That Craftsman would not even come close to doing this).
Cement is naturally hard on trimmer line, just bump the head and keep on going. Did not even phase the engine. Something else that surprised me is that the dual head holds a total of 28' feet of line. (14" both sides). Maybe it is just me, but I thought that was a lot.
Overall, I highly recommend this trimmer to anyone. Even though it is not rated for heavy industrial type use, I think it would hold it's own, (if not outdo) with the best of them.
Light and Powerful June 1, 2009 G. T. (AL USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I just bought the 223L to replace a 5 year old, lightly used Echo SRM-210i which froze-up (piston is hung in the cylinder). Wished I had bought the Husqvarna when I bought the Echo.
Pros:
* Easy to start and stay running. (The Echo would start easy but it would tend to stall (and sometimes quit until it warmed up.)
* Very lightweight.
* Easy to maneuver - it just glides across the ground.
* Powerful - this machine cuts through 1/4" brush with no problems using stock string.
Cons: Only has a two year warranty compared to Echo's 5 years. However, the place I bought the Husq (Home Improvement store starting with L) had a 3 extended warranty for $39. The total price of the Husqvarna and the extended warranty was about in line with Echo's compatible model (which has a smaller engine).
