| Customer Reviews: Reconditioned String Trimmer May 25, 2010 Brave S. Eagle (COSBY, TENNESSEE, US) Bought two of these from factory site and must admit they looked just like new. Would have given them 5 stars but found one of them is off on carb setting. Still was a great buy as they do a good job.
Been using Versatool for 7 years March 6, 2010 Jeremy Brown I've been using the Versatool ever since I bought my house 7 years ago. I got it used from a friend who lightly used it for a year before that. I have three attachments, the edger, trimmer and blower. They all work well, the tool is more than powerful enough for household use (used about once a week for about 8 months out of the year). The only downside is that it can get heavy, especially with the edger attachment. To use it correctly you end up holding the heavy end up a little higher, so you'll get a work out in the bicep. But other than that, it works great and is very convenient. It also take up less space in the garage than three separate lawn tools.
Actually, I'm on here to get a new one. A piece lost a screw and the unit vibrated apart. I put it back together, but the screw I used to replace the lost one cleaved off in place... and I couldn't drill it out... since they seem pretty cheap, I decided to replace the entire unit. You definately get you money's worth. $65 in 7 years is a good deal.
Don't buy this trimmer August 3, 2008 Lewisinde (Dover, DE) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Don't buy a Homelite. You are wasting your money. My last string timmer, a different brand, lasted 12 years before it went. This one didn't make it 15 months. I bought a Homelite because a major consumer magazine (CR)gave the Homelite string trimmer a best buy rating. For a few weeks, it seemed to start easily and ran smoothly. Then, I started having problems with the string not coming out of the reel. Here I was having to continuously shut the unit off and run the string back through...a major pain. So I bought an adaption kit at Home Depot which replaced the reel with one that holds two precut pieces (this is great and I thoroughly recommend it). Now, after 14 months of owning the trimmer, I am having trouble with the engine. It runs fast, then slow, overheats and shuts off after 5-10 minutes. I have to be careful not to burn myself. I took good care of the unit....used the right gas/oil ratio, changed the spark plug, cleaned the filter, and even removed the gas during the winter months. It didn't really matter. Why bother fixing it...its a piece of junk.
TRASH WEED EATER July 31, 2008 T. D. Couch (Chattanooga, TN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ran for 5 minutes, and never could get it started again for months. Makes a great wall decoration in my shop though.
Remanufactured trimmer May 4, 2008 CTRichMachOne (USA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
It came fast. The trimmer looked new, came with all paperwork and hardware. Didn't start as well as was stated(sticker) for starting the machine, but, if you have worked with 2 cycle machines that I have in the past you can't go by the instructions. After I got it running. It works fine. I got what I paid for.
