3rd season review May 16, 2010 Billy Arredondo I bought my house in the spring of '08 and had no lawn equipment and a limited budget. I got a great deal on a John Deere JS63 mower on CL for $100 and ordered this hedge trimmer as well as a Homelite blower and string trimmer from Amazon. This is my third season using all the equipment I purchased in March 2008. I do all my own lawn maintenance. I have over 300 linear feet of hedges that I trim 4 times a year. I was skeptical having only paid $200 total for my three pieces of red Homelite equipment but I figured it would at least get me to the point to where I could afford better options. However, my equipment seems to be humming along just fine. I read the manuals and have followed the manufacturer's maintenance advice and it just works. I have not had one single issue with this hedge trimmer or any of my equipment. I'm not saying that their equipment is the best, I've used way better tools but these work for me.
Need a reconditioned right arm November 18, 2009 Neal Castle My Homelite came in factory packaging and looked like a charm upon delivery. In fact, it started up immediately; one pull on the cord and away it went. It cut through 1/4" branches like butter, was easy to handle, had little vibration, and had enormous power. That was the good part. After the first use it's been nothing but trouble. It takes at least 30 pulls to get it started. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes and try it again while my arm heals. When it finally kicks in it wants to sputter in the "Run" position. You have to feather the throttle switch to keep it alive. I have a feeling that all of the warnings about the bad choke design should have been heeded. Bummer.
Packaging October 26, 2009 Kenneth Zeller (Lynnwood, Wa. United States) The packaging for this product was TOTALLY INADEQUATE !!!! The supplier simply placed the unit into a cardboard box, sealed it, and shipped it without materials to prevent it from movement within the box. The unit bounced around inside the box throughout shippment. By the time it arrived, the cutter had protruded through the packaging and was bent from impact in shippment. I was able to somewhat straighten out the cutter but its life will be limited due to wear from it not being completly straight. You should replace the cutter blade and guide with new ones free of charge!!
This machine it terrible October 17, 2009 Robert L. Miller Started a couple times and of course let it sit for a while. So I put in fresh gas, took out the spark plug and sprayed carb cleaner in, still nothing. So I'm off to buy another one that has a better reputation.
DO NOT BUY THIS TRIMMER August 16, 2009 Earl D. Filippelli Save your money.the trimmer is hard to start out of the box, after 20 pulls it started and trimmed ok.but that was itwould not start warm and the next day would not start cold.DO NOT BUY.
