Amazon.com Product Description
If you're in the market for a basic, entry-level electric trimmer to handle light trimming work around your house, the Black and Decker 9-inch grass trimmer might be worth considering. While certainly not as powerful or feature-laden as more costly models, this trimmer can handle much of the light-duty work many homeowners need. The trimmer weighs just 3.2 pounds and requires little assembly with just 2 steps. It operates off a reliable, 1.8-amp HP motor, which spins the line at 11,000 rpm. This grass trimmer features a basic bump feed line system, a generous nine-inch cutting path, and a secondary assist handle for added comfort and control. It comes with 20 feet of .065-diameter line, and spool replacement is fairly simple. One thing I found especially handy with this particular trimmer was its unique cord lock system, which holds the extension cord firmly in place while the trimmer is in use. As someone who has accidentally unplugged a trimmer halfway through a job on more than one occasion, this indeed a handy feature to have. This product is backed by a 2-year full warranty. --Carl Thress

Amazon.com Product Description
Ideal for smaller yards or light-duty trimming jobs, as well as post-mowing maintenance, this electric grass trimmer from Black & Decker cuts a nine-inch path and weighs under four pounds so it's easy to handle and control. The ST1000 owes its reliable performance to a 1.8 Amp motor that operates at 11,000 RPM. A bump feed spool allows feeding of the line as needed (it's a snap to replace the spool), and a convenient cord retention system guards against unintended unplugging while you're working. The ST1000 includes 20 feet of .065-diameter line, a secondary assist handle, and a 2-year warranty. For added convenience, it also comes ready to assemble in just two straightforward steps.

4 out of 5 stars Black & Decker Electric Weed Trimmer   September 5, 2010
Mike Leverich
Replaced an electric Toro trimmer that lasted 20 years. Motor is not as powerful but adequate. Heavier than previous trimmer but light compared to most electric trimmers available today. Bump feed works adequately, although there is sometimes a delay in the feed (must run full speed for several seconds after bump feed before line advances). Plastic case seems fairly rugged. Overall seems decent so far for the price, which was cheap.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great   September 3, 2010

I have practically cut my whole yard this handy little Grass Trimmer. I have used practically no string, and it is an amazing tool for the price and performance I have had. This is the perfect weed wacker for the smaller yard, or for someone who is physically challenged in anyway. Light weight, does what it says, inexpensive, what more could you want?

5 out of 5 stars Good for the price   August 28, 2010

For $20 you can't go wrong. Doesn't work well for deep edging, but for light trimming and edging its good for the price

5 out of 5 stars Unbeatable Price, effective tool   August 23, 2010

This tool works very well. And at this price, it is a no brainer. I use this on my St. Augustine grass and it cuts it close. I love the bump feature to release more string. It is also very light and quiet.

Just buy an appropriate extension cord and you are good to go. Nothing to charge and it does not use gas, so it does no pollute.
